The Irish Government is looking to invest in Seed and Venture Capital Funds
Under a new scheme announced by the Irish Government, Enterprise Ireland – the Irish state economic development agency – will make €175m available for investment into Seed and Venture Capital funds to support the funding requirements of young, innovative Irish companies.
The Seed & Venture Capital Scheme (2019-24) will be open to suitable VCs that are interested in supporting:
- Irish-based Seed/Pre-Seed tech companies (up to €1.5m per investment);
- Series A+ funds specialising in core areas such as ICT, life sciences and industrial tech (over €1.5m per investment); and
- food sector funding for specialist companies (seed and pre-seed investments).
The deadline for applications is April 23rd, 2019. According to the Guidelines for Expressions of Interest, there is no strict requirement for the applicant funds to be resident or managed in Ireland – it is expressly stated that structures located in Ireland or the European Economic Area (EEA) will be eligible, and that “other overseas structures may also be acceptable”.
